SOSSA has a fundraiser coming up to support our 2012 efforts of working with DHS and expanding. (It's going to be a blast!) We decided to meet as a board to talk about the event and ended up at a local Portland restaurant to hammer out some details.
When Jessica (co-founder of SOSSA) disclosed her abuse to me, I was shocked. I had known her family for 10 years and had no idea that abuse was occurring within their home. As we researched options for her healing, we discovered that no one was talking about sibling abuse.
To be honest, when I first heard about SOSSA I had no idea that sibling sexual abuse was an issue. I was at the time and am still working at a local primary care clinic where we see a fairly large population of foster children.
